Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier moves just a bit down to number 3 for 2009, yet still ranks high as one of the most popular dog breed in the United States. This dog maybe small, but packs a powerful punch. A very energetic dog that requires a lot of exercise, and attention.

Daily basic dog training will be needed. They are very intelligent, and active. Depending on the Yorkie owner, claims have been made that this breed is hard to train, or can be a bit challenging, while others note that their intelligence helps them learn quickly.

The Yorkie does not seem to be comfortable around children. No matter how gentle the child is towards the dog, a nip might occur. Same goes for other animals or pets. Early socialization may help in this circumstance.

These dogs make excellent watchdogs, are very loyal, and are oh so pretty and or handsome.
