Poodle Hide and Seek a Short Story

The poodle is a very intelligent dog. Smart enough to know that his adventure on the loose, only lasted till his owner got back, thank goodness.

It was supposed to be only a two week dog sitting job while my Aunt went on vacation and couldn't take her precious Kimo with her.

Under our care for just one whole day, and not used to having a dog in the house, someone opened the door and Kimo darted out, being that he was bred for retrieving and had good "scents" he probably thought that he could find my Aunt.

We posted notices and pictures all over the neighborhood, we had calls of sightings and close encounters, but to no avail, he still was lost.

After about a week and a half, my Aunt mad at us, and worried about her dog, cut her vacation short and decided to come back. With one more day left until her arrival, we got that phone call. Kimo had been sighted about four blocks away. My oldest brother rounded us up, got into his car, and headed into that direction.

There he was, cold, dirty, and scared. My brother decided to have all of us form this huge circle around this house, just in case Kimo would try to escape again. My brother called out to him, as our circle got tighter and tighter until we had him cornered in the garage.

He looked so lost, and tired, almost looking like he had given up. I felt so sorry.

It seemed as if it was perfect timing, my aunt on her way, and Kimo safe and secure.

My aunt was overjoyed, and Kimo, well, I guess he knew it was time to come back home.

The poodle is ranked at number 9, but according to my Aunt, number 1, this breed of dog comes in three sizes, is intelligent, easy to train, gets along with children, needs moderate exercise, and needs a lot, and I do mean a lot, of attention.
