Animal Shelters:
Helping to Save Lives and Our Money

There are thousands of animal shelters throughout the United States, and almost all provide free or low-cost care concerning spaying and or neutering your dog or cat.

We are facing trying times, due to today's economy, and some of us may need a little help from time to time.

Spaying and or neutering your dog will not only save you money, but most important, it will help lower the number of animals that are euthanized every year.

Every responsible pet owner should consider this and take the right action.

This only makes sense, spaying/neutering helps fight over population, is better for your dogs health and would cost less as compared to let's say, having a litter to care for.

These shelters are always over crowded, which means that they are always in need of help, either in the form of monetary donations (which is tax deductible), or volunteer help.

If you, or if you know anyone that has recently lost a job or took a cut in hours, this would be a good place to donate some of that extra time. It will keep you busy; is a good way to help out in your community; and you get to help and be around our four-legged friends that were rescued, and are now waiting to be adopted.

ASPCA Statistics for 2009
  • Every year 5 to 7 million animals enter shelters

  • 3-4 million are euthanized

  • 60 percent are dogs

  • 70 percent are cats
